IV. Board Eligible:

Diplomate candidates who pass the written examination shall be considered "Board Eligible" for a period of three years. Each “Board Eligible” candidate will have the opportunity to take the oral examination at least twice during this time. If, after two attempts, the candidate fails to pass the oral examination, they must wait a period of one year from the date of failure before sitting for the oral examination again. If a candidate fails the oral examination after a third attempt or does not take and pass the oral examination within this three year period, they will lose their “Board Eligible” status and must retake and pass the written examination. All previous and newly adopted application requirements at that time must be met.

Board Eligible individuals who pass the oral Examination shall be considered "Board Certified” for a period of ten years.

A candidate who fails to pass the written examination or who is retaking the examination after failing the oral board examination three times or a time lapse in eligibility must resubmit a formal request to the Board to sit for the examination and resubmit a new and complete submission packet. Only after passing the written examination again will they be considered “Board Eligible”.
